Robin Wright: Does that make sense? Or is this just in my mind?
Robot: Ultimately, everything makes sense. And everything is in our mind.
Robin Wright is a popular actress, but she always choose carefully where to act. Now everybody knows her, thanks to “House of Cards”, but she also did one of the most incredible movies in the History of Cinema: “Forrest Gump”. To me it’s enough to give her my respect.
The movie we’re talking about here, “The Congress”, is a journey. It’s a sci-fi / animation movie, where she plays an actress (herself in fact) in a world where the Studios want to scan the most popular actors, to use them in as many movies as they want. Then, the characters will be created through the computers with the scan of the actor’s emotions and physical gestures. Actors won’t have to act anymore.
Jeff: We at Miramount, want to… want to scan you. All of you – your body, your face, your emotions, your laughter, your tears, your climaxing, your happiness, your depressions, your… fears, longings. We want to sample you, we want to preserve you, we want… all this, this… this thing, this thing called…”Robin Wright”.
Robin Wright: What will you do with this… thing ? That you call Robin Wright?
Jeff: We’ll do all the things that your Robin Wright wouldn’t do.
It sounds like something absurd but also possible today. Many actors play in video games, so the evolution could be that.
What happens next to the scan? We go 20 years after the moment where Robin signed the contract. The human’s search for full and vivid emotions has taken a perverse path during the years that passed, in the society. People in that world live in an animation, made up in their mind (the second part of the movie is being told through the animation, not fiction). They would leave everything, everybody, to keep living in a virtual world, made up by a drug that changes the perception of the world and makes that world be what they want it to be. You want to be rich? You are. You want to dress in beautiful clothes and be a star? You can be. Everything is easy, colored, fun. Perfect, right? It seems. But our life is not a dream, is real. There are physical human rules and we, as human beings, have to respect what we are because WE are not robot, or scans.
If this sounds interesting to you, give it a try. The movie has a profound morality and there could be something that relates to you and makes you think about our present.

Robin Wright was wearing a dazzling purple dress, draped on the right side, stretch and feminine. Asymmetric neckline, long sleeves, the tissue could be silk or viscose jersey. This color is most appropriate in autumn but some designers used it in their Spring / Summer 2015 Collection. Here’s also a choice if you like draped dresses.
